Northwest artists choose their design with great care. An artist may choose an animal because she identifies with that animal. Choose an animal that is special to you in some way.

Third, layer simple shapes to create a complex picture.

Sketch your design using ovoid shapes, "U" shapes, and "S" shapes and stylized body parts, such as eyes, paws, and feathers.
