Step 3:
Pin a drawing of your blanket design to the red felt and then cut it out.

Button blankets are gifts that can be exchanged at potlatch ceremonies.
Students can design and sew their own blankets in a project that will take about an hour to complete.
Step 1:
Cut four 18" strips of red bias tape.
Next fold the each strip over each edge of the blue fabric.
Attach the red trim using either glue or a needle and thread.
Step 4:
Glue or sew the red felt design onto the blanket.
Glue or sew the buttons on.
Materials Needed:
1. A 16" square of blue fabric
2. A 12" square of red felt
3. Two yards of 1" wide red bias tape
4. 36 small white buttons
5. Red thread & a needle
6. Scissors
7. Fabric glue or white glue
8. A ruler or tape measure
Step 2:
Sew or glue each corner as shown in the illustration.
