TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION
No sound
On a Macintosh, Check under the Apple menu to Control Panel to Sound to make sure that the volume is turned up and that the Mute box has not been selected.

Printing problems
If the cables are OK, then check first to make sure that your printer is turned on and the printer cable is properly attached to your computer. If that is fine, check to be sure that the correct printer is selected in your Macintosh system software. Go to the Apple menu and select Chooser, make sure the printer you are using is selected. Close Chooser and try to print again. If you are still unable to print, check to see if you can print from other applications like TeachText. If you can’t print from any application and have checked the steps described above, you may have a printer driver problem and you should contact the Technical If you are unable to print in a landscape orientation, please see the following section, Known Conflicts.

Sluggish Performance
If the performance of the program seems slow, you may want to try the following:
1. Quit all other applications running in the background and run the program by itself. This is often enough to improve performance. Confirm that you have at least 16MB of memory and at least a 4x-speed CD-ROM drive.
2. On a Macintosh, bring up the About Macintosh menu option on the Apple menu from the Finder, and see how much memory is free and how much is being used by your system. Our programs need at least 16MB of available RAM to run properly and would gladly use more. To free up more memory, try disabling any network software, screen savers, etc and rebooting the machine. By rebooting with extensions off (use Extension Manager or hold down the shift key while you reboot), you can often free up the most amount of memory.

Colors Look Bad:
In rare circumstances, the colors of the program may not look right. If this occurs, then reset your monitors number of colors to 256 using the Control Panel, and reboot your machine.

Known Conflicts
Our testing has identified several conflicts between Pentewa programs and other programs or utilities that we are unable to resolve. These may impair use of the program in the following ways:

Launching AOL from within the program:
AOL’s browser cannot be launched by clicking on the WWW icon within “Day of the Dead”. Try launching AOL before you open “Day of the Dead” and then click on the WWW icon. If that does not resolve the problem you can find all the relevant links by going directly to our web site at http://www.pentewa.com/available/dayodead/dodw1/dodw1.html

Printing a landscape orientation with older Epson Stylus printers:
Some of the printer drivers (the utility which runs your printer) in older Epson Stylus printers do not allow you to print out images in the landscape orientation. There is a labor intensive way to correct this problem. You can go to Epson’s web site at www.epson.com and download the latest printer utility for your model of printer and follow Epson’s instructions to install it on your computer. This should solve the problem. If it does not and you do not want the program without this printing capability, Pentewa will happily refund the purchase price.
