Dragons Come to Life at Pentewa Interactive’s Puppet Booth at the “Celebrating Life Seattle Dragon Boat Festival”

Seattle, WA (August 1, 2000) Pentewa Interactive, a Seattle based educational software company will be sponsoring a Dragon Puppet Booth at the “Celebrating Life Dragon Boat Races” to be held September 3, 2000. At the booth, kids will find all of the materials needed to create the dragon puppets featured in Pentewa’s CD-ROM, “Chinese Shadow Puppet Theater”, as well as puppets of paddlers and boats designed for the Celebrating Life Festival. “Celebrating Life” is a dragon boat festival and race being sponsored by Team Survivor NW and featuring its own dragon boat team, Seattle Survivors Afloat. TSNW is a non-profit organization serving women with cancer with a wide range of fitness programs. Dragon boat racing is an exciting team sport which began in China 2,000 years ago as a celebration commenorating the life and death of a poet.

“It was a natural opportunity for Pentewa Interactive to combine creative activities for kids with our new interest in dragon boating” said John Hirasawa, co-founder and Vice President of Pentewa Interactive. “My wife, Susan , is a member of the Seattle Survivors Afloat team. She’s also the artist behind Pentewa Interactive and when we decided to do the puppet booth she got busy designing a paddling puppet in honor of her teammates.”

Pentewa Interactive introduces children to diverse cultures through the arts with software programs that include “Chinese Shadow Puppet Theater”, “Mexico’s Day of the Dead” and “Exploring Rock Art — A North American Field Trip”.
